So about the mennonite comment, are some of your family amish too or just mennonite? I thought I recalled that your moms side of the family was amish?!? Sorry if this too personal, you dont have to post if it is.

Yes that totally makes sense. 🙂 I was only familiar with the "Rod & Staff" type of Mennonites (if you are familiar with their school curriculum, etc.). That's interesting that there is variety in their denomination as well!

Hi Jenny!
No problem- I'm happy to answer your questions. Actually, Mennonite is a very broad denomination. There are many different kinds of Baptists, etc, and the same is true with Mennonites. There are more conservative Mennonites who wear dresses, bigger head coverings, and such, and that is probably the type you are familiar with. There are a little less conservative ones, too (like you mentioned), who still choose to wear the veiling, but wear skirts and a little less conservative clothes. There are also Mennonites who wear jeans, don't wear coverings, etc. We have relatives who are all types.

so I'm totally curious…you said in one of your other comments, "It is just a choice they've made because they want to wear a covering on their heads. It's something many Mennonites do." I remember you saying one time that some of your extended family was Mennonite…but I don't see "Mennonite" as the jean skirts, cute belts, and trendy outfits they're wearing, so I'm just wondering if Mennonites are different now or if that is different family you're talking about?
Forgive me if I'm prying too much 🙂

Sounds like bunches of fun memories were made. =) Christmas Eve found us with most of our cousins/extended fam and I can definitely relate to the crazy, memorable, vibrant joy of everyone back together again. =) Blessings!
