If you have been reading our blog for more than a year, you know that we have an annual “Christmas Eve” tradition of preparing appetizers for a special candlelight dinner for our family. In order to accommodate 4 household schedules, we had our traditional Christmas Eve meal on December 29. (Our family has always made celebration the event, not the actual calendar date. This keeps us flexible and available to celebrate anytime, anywhere!!)
Elizabeth, our creative “love to make it pretty” girl, did a spectacular job in designing the festive table fit for the occasion.
Eating in candlelight has been part of our Christmas Eve dinner.
It is amazing how two years have changed our family. God has been SO generous to bless us with 6 new family members and 1 more on the way!! But with new family units come additional schedules so John and Chelsy were unable to join us for this celebration.
Our creative chef, Allison, put together scrumptious skewers with cherry tomatoes, white cheddar cheese, peppers, and salami.
With Mexican food being a family favorite, there were quite a few Tex/Mex dishes. Joshua and Cassidy made this hot bean dip loaded with cheese, tomatoes, and cilantro.
Another delicious Mexican dish, a layered dip of cream cheese, salsa, cheese, guacamole, and green onions, was made by Taylor.
These yummy cheesy chicken quesadillas were the creation of Denver and Hudson.
Mitchell and Bryn made some amazing chicken toquitas.
These savory bite sized mushrooms stuffed with sausage and cheese, made by Rebecca the budding chef, were SO delicious!
For many years, Carson has enjoyed preparing a variety of deep fat fried yummies. This year he and Carolina made fried shrimp and pickles. M-m-m-m-m-m
Where there are no veggies the people perish. 🙂
Becky made a flavorful dish with scallops and guacamole.
We also had peppermint macaroons (made by Allison) and mini cheesecakes (compliments of Elizabeth) for dessert but somehow we missed getting pictures. But both were delectable!!

Unfortunately, Wallace was too young to partake of this feast but he enjoyed cutting his teeth on the side of the plate!
Some of the guys enjoyed playing speed chess.
But others played with grand babies and had long conversations.
We are very grateful for the opportunity to celebrate together as a family the birth of our Lord and Savior.
Two more on the way? Can you clarify?
At Christmas Eve, Axton wasn't born yet, so that's why is says that.
Ahh. Thank you.
