In reply to Anonymous. We generally just practice the songs that need the most work. We try to write out a list of songs that we will be practicing because this helps us be more effective. It can be overwhelming at the beginning because you haven't built a repertoire yet. I would say just start with a few songs, and then build your list a couple at a time.

Wow! How do you decide which songs to practice each day? Do you have any tips on music practice for concerts? (I ask because I recently started playing music at some senior centers, and I've found that practicing for each performance can be quite taxing and overwhelming.)

We generally try to practice about half an hour five days a week of individual practice. This definitely doesn't always happen though! We always practice all together before a tour, and then, once we are on the road, we practice a bit before each concert. Balance can definitely be a struggle! It is important to evaluate each season of life and ask God for wisdom on how to invest your time.

I have a question… how do you practice music for concerts? How much time do you spend practicing music a day? Do you need to run through the whole program several times on different instruments every day?? And if you do, how do you find time to do that and balance the other responsibilities of life???
