That Day We Babysat Thirteen Kiddos

Our family loves children. LOVES children. Anyone who has read this blog for very long or been around us much knows that little ones are very popular in the Bontrager household!
We have little ones in and our of our home as often as possible when we are home on the farm and not on tour, and it is always a highlight!

This day, however, was a little different. It was two days before Christmas, and everyone in our family was off work + at home for the day. Getting to spend that day babysitting these thirteen adorable little cousins (cousins of each other, but not cousins of ours) was such fun.
Let me tell you, it was WILD. What a circus!

For once there was no fighting over babies, or standing in line waiting to hold one, because there were plenty to go around! =)

Lunch time was chaotic. Out came the high chairs, sippy cups, bibs, and baby food….

Oh, we laughed SO HARD at their little kid antics. =)
Josh was obviously enjoying the moment a little more than his little tyke. Poor little guy!
Carson + his little man having a chat.
Liz was in her ELEMENT hanging out with the Lydia doll. =)
We all were in our element, actually. =)
THIS LITTLE DUDE. What a heart-throbber. We really wanted to hide him in a closet + keep him!
The boys took the toddlers out to see the baby calves….
…while the rest of us stayed inside cuddling the babies. =)
After they all left that afternoon we honestly all felt a little blue + wished for them to all come back again soon!
So, one of these days, you may hear that all of the Bontragers have quit their jobs and taken up full-time family babysitting services. =) Or….that a bunch of the older Bontager kids have gone off + gotten married + started their own little cousin clans. =)
“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward.”
Psalm 127:3

  4. Oh!!! How fun that must have been!!! I would love that many babies at once in our house! We love babies/little kids here, too! Our mom is expecting Baby #8 in April, and we currently have a 2, 4, 5, and 7 year old (excluding us older ones=))! So yes- little kiddos and babies are SO MUCH FUN and SUCH A BLESSING!!!

  5. So many sweet pictures! Littles ones are SUCH a blessing and so much fun to have around. Oh my… I have to say that picture #3 is my favorite. Where there are babies there are always *too many* eager hands ready to hold and cuddle the little ones 😉 . How fun that y'all had so many of them to enjoy!

Btw, I so enjoy reading your blog! The farm life, singing + traveling, showing hospitality, and family togetherness is so special… and pictures are the BEST way to share the different parts of everyday life.

God bless y'all! Come visit NC sometime! 🙂
