Home Sweet Home!!

How does one begin to describe the joys of home on the farm?  The anticipation was HIGH as we approached the hill just 1/2 mile from our home……..we were waiting for the first glimpse of our “home sweet home” after being gone for 81 days.
Our 5 little ones spent most of the first hour unloading the bus while the older boys & Marlin went to work on the farm (after they unloaded the instruments and a few of the heavier items).  Chelsy went right to work on the mountains of dirty laundry while Allison worked in the kitchen-putting away items from the bus and making one of our favorite soups for lunch.  That left me (Becky) to supervise the unloading and putting away of everything from shoes to school books.
What a joy it was to sit around the dining room table for a lunch of black bean soup, toasted cheese bread, fresh veggies, and apple slices.

Here’s a list of some of the items we accomplished today:
~setting rat traps~tilling the garden~planting radishes & spinach~repairing fence~cleaning out heifer pens~hauling manure~washing too many loads of laundry to count~dehorning calves~moving heifers to various pens~milking cows~feeding calves~mailing “Salt & Light”cds (we sold our cd inventory and had to take orders!)~going to town~saying hello to Grandma~weeding flower gardens~reading mail from the past 2 weeks~

Of the greatest interest to our younger children was the arrival of 6 baby kittens.  This was something they were hoping and praying for!

And that concludes our first day at home in 2012!
